Anxiety therapy
Online psychologist for anxiety.
An online psychologist for anxiety can help you understand what keeps the worry going and give you practical ways to manage it, all from the comfort of your own home. Anxiety is one of the most common reasons people reach out, and it responds well to support. At AusCare, you can see a registered psychologist by secure video, anywhere in Australia, often within the week, and you do not need a referral to begin.

Signs you might recognise.
Anxiety shows up differently for everyone, and you do not need a diagnosis to seek support. Some of the things people describe include constant worry or a racing mind, trouble switching off or sleeping, panic that seems to come out of nowhere, avoiding situations that feel exposing, a knot of tension in the body, overthinking decisions, and a quiet dread that follows them through the day. If some of this feels familiar, therapy can help.

How online therapy for anxiety works.
Your psychologist works with you to understand the pattern behind the anxiety, the thoughts, feelings and behaviours that keep it in place, and then helps you build skills to loosen its grip. We draw on evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, which looks at the link between thoughts, feelings and actions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which helps you relate to anxious thoughts differently and keep moving towards what matters to you. The work is practical and paced to you, and it happens over secure video so you can do it from wherever you feel comfortable. Therapy can help you understand and manage anxiety and feel more in control day to day, and outcomes vary from person to person.

What anxiety therapy can help with.
People come to us for support with generalised worry and overthinking, social anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, perfectionism and the pressure to get everything right, performance and workplace anxiety, and the physical tension and sleep difficulties that often come with being constantly on edge. Whatever shape your anxiety takes, the aim is the same, to help you feel steadier and more able to live the way you want.

What to expect in your sessions.
Your first session is mostly about understanding what has brought you here and what you would like to be different. From there, you and your psychologist set a direction together and work through it at a pace that suits you, usually in fifty-minute sessions by secure video. You will come away with practical strategies you can use between sessions, and your psychologist will check in on what is working and adjust as you go.

Who it is for.
We work with children aged seven and over, teenagers and adults who are experiencing anxiety. If you are supporting a child or teenager, we will talk through how a parent or guardian is involved.
Fees and Medicare rebates.
A standard session is $245. With a GP referral and a mental health treatment plan, Medicare rebates $101.55 on an eligible session with a registered psychologist, so you are about $143.45 out of pocket. You can also book privately with no referral, and we see NDIS self and plan-managed participants.

You do not need a referral to start.
Many people book a private session first and arrange the mental health treatment plan with their GP afterwards, so you do not have to wait for a referral to get going. If you would like a rebate from your first session, simply have your referral and plan ready when you book.
